Enrollment in Our Content Marketing Certification Program Ends To…

Just a heads up … enrollment for our Content Marketing Certification program ends tomorrow. It’s also the last Copyblogger Certification class ever.

We began the enrollment period by telling you that changes would be coming after this group of writers signed up for Certification. Notably, this would be the last group to get free leads from being listed on the Copyblogger Certified Content Marketers page.

That’s still the case. But as I worked on the idea for what comes next over the last week, I came to a realization … this is the last Copyblogger Certification class, period.

In other words, after this group of writers gets certified, we’ll have access to all the proven writers we need.

The new program I’m contemplating requires great writers. And the pool of Certified Content Marketing talent we’ll have after this group will be a truly awesome resource for our go-forward plans.

All Certified writers will have the opportunity (but not the obligation) to accept high-quality assignments and referrals from us under this new initiative.

Plus, all Certified writers will continue to benefit from our stamp of approval, and the free client inquiries that come from

In fact, your designation as a Copyblogger Certified Content Marketer will be even more valuable. Because after this class, it won’t be offered again — leaving an elite group of proven content marketers to reap the rewards.

I wanted to let you know about this, because it’s tempting to think “I’ll just join next time.” I get it, but I’m here to tell you there won’t be a next time.

Now, I won’t say there’s no tomorrow, because there is … Certification enrollment is open until 5:00 PM Pacific Time tomorrow, January 22, 2020.

There’s just no day after tomorrow. 😉

Enroll today: the proven benefits are fantastic, and you’ll love the additional opportunities we bring you!

Still have questions?

If you’re holding off on joining, it might mean you have questions. A trait common to successful writers is that they tend to ask a lot of questions — and that’s great!

We have a FAQ page dedicated to the more common questions we get about the program, so you can make an informed decision. You can check that out here, and also keep reading below for additional guidance.

We want to make sure you understand the pros and cons, and make the choice that will genuinely benefit your career. So here are some additional questions we’re seeing:

Q: What if I don’t pass Certification?

This is a really important one! I try to make sure that everyone who signs up realizes: Not all applicants pass the Certification process.

Now, we’re not looking to fail anyone, either. If we get an applicant who’s missing a key ingredient, we give detailed feedback on how they can improve and the most important areas to focus their efforts. Applicants do get a second chance to apply, and often that initial “No” turns into a warm “Yes” once the applicant works through the weak spots.

But even if you don’t end up passing Certification, or you chose not to apply, there’s a lot in the program to benefit you.

Our four-week content strategy class gives you an in-depth look into how I think about strategy. I’m not one to “dumb down” ideas — so I spell out a strategic approach in a way that goes far beyond what most courses are teaching.

And if you’re ever wrestling with an idea and just not getting it — we have regular Q&A sessions for the community where you can fit any tricky puzzle pieces into place.

In fact, among a group of students polled about their experience with the course, 83% said that the course gave them “a tangible career benefit.”

And 14% said they got a pay raise or promotion based on what they learned in the content strategy course.

That’s not counting your continuing education. We have hundreds of hours of additional material on SEO, marketing automation, prospecting, email strategies, and dozens of other topics. We even talk about creative productivity. If you have a content question, it’s very likely that we have an in-depth resource that addresses it.

Think of the continuing education as your college library. You’re not expected to consume all of the available material (that would be pretty tricky). But it’s there for your reference when you need it.

Q: Do I need to be an experienced freelancer?

Now obviously, someone who’s already established a freelance career is going to be further down the path than someone who’s just getting started.

But if you have a strong writing voice and the willingness to learn solid strategy, the Certification program can get your freelancing career off to an amazing start.

That’s truer than ever, with the prospecting and client management bonuses we’ve added. Whether you want to pick up a client or two a month, or you want to fill a complete roster of great clients, Certification will help you get there.

We also have many Certified writers who are employees within organizations. That Certification badge makes you look pretty good to your boss and colleagues — and so does all the smart strategy you can now confidently recommend.

Finally, many of our Certified writers are business owners, who simply want the insights and strategies to promote their own company.

Q: I saw another certification that lets me pass with a multiple choice test. Why don’t you do it that way?

Here’s the straight answer: Copyblogger’s program is, by far, the most rigorous certification in content marketing.

Applications are reviewed individually, in depth, by our editorial team. Every application is evaluated based on demonstration of rock-solid strategy and a strong, capable writing voice.

Some multiple-choice certifications have thousands of graduates. One or two have tens of thousands.

And that’s totally fine. There’s a place for that.

But if you want to be on a more elite list, if you’d like to be positioned among the best of the best, this is the one you want to spend your time on.

Q: How much time will this take me?

The strategy course lasts for four weeks, with two sessions per week. Normally, you’ll want to carve 2-3 hours a week out total, to listen to the sessions and then complete any worksheets. Some weeks will be lighter than that.

(All sessions are pre-recorded, with transcripts.)

By the way, if you don’t have clients yet to do the exercises — do them for your own writing business! You can design your business and content for success, no matter where you’re starting — in just the same way that you’ll do for your clients.

The course is self-paced, because we know you’re busy! You can move through the course more slowly if you prefer, and many candidates do.

Q: Do I have to apply for my Certification as soon as I finish the course?

You have a full year from the time you enroll to submit your Certification application. And we actually encourage you to take your time.

When you’re ready to apply, make sure the material you submit reflects your best work — the kind of writing you’d show a fantastic potential client whose business you wanted to earn.

Some writers apply as soon as they’re eligible, after the completion of the strategy course. Others wait a few months. A few squeak in right under the deadline. We’ve seen all of those have great success with the program.

Of course, the earlier you apply and pass, the sooner you can start getting clients from the Copyblogger Certified Content Marketers page. Let’s do this!

Q: When is the enrollment deadline?

Enrollment for new candidates is open through Wednesday, January 22, at 5:00PM Pacific U.S. Time.

Because this program is so labor-intensive for our editorial team, and because we like to keep our list of recommended writers exclusive, this is the last class of writers who are eligible for Certification.

If you miss this final enrollment period, you’re going to be really mad at yourself, and nobody wants that.

You can get all of the details and get signed up here.

One more question — What if I change my mind?

We always want to make sure you’re happy! Get inside Certification and look around. Attend the sessions, complete some worksheets, and explore the continuing education.

If you decide it’s not a good fit, just let us know within 30 days of your enrollment, and we’ll refund every penny you’ve paid. Don’t worry … we’ll still be friends! We understand that this, more than any else we offer, is for a very specific kind of writer.

Looking forward to seeing you there! Here’s that link one last time.
